Lloyd Pursall

It’s no secret that you’re in great shape. How do you keep your body too hot to handle?

HJ: The biggest thing I realized is that abs are made in the kitchen. As soon as I tuned into my diet and took better care of what I put into my body and how I fuel my body, the better my body started to look. I started loving doing cardio a lot more than being afraid of it. It’s also been the most important thing to do in the few miles a day and I like to prioritize cardio over weights.

What fitness trends/exercise hacks are you looking for in 2022?

HJ: I’ve found a trick for myself whenever I don’t feel good about working out, and that’s to put my phone down and stop my workouts as soon as possible. If I find myself in a little trouble about working out and relaxing on my own, I might as well answer those texts, emails, or watch TikToks on the treadmill to kill both at once .

Do you enjoy training with an accountability partner/friend, or are you a lone rider?

HJ: I’m generally better as a solo rider. I prefer to get up and start in the morning, and few people like to do that.

What works best for you when it comes to balancing cardio and strength?

HJ: It helps to do the weights in the morning so you can do the hard stuff right away. Then in the evening, if you have time, that’s when you do cardio. The key is not to make cardio a scary challenge. I just try to simplify it by having specific goals like walking 3 or 5 miles.

There can sometimes be a stigma surrounding men who prioritize wellness and self-care, but it’s so important. What have you found that works best for you?

HJ: I think it’s super important to prioritize your self-care. This is what will make you look good, feel good and give you great energy. When you have good energy that will transfer into the world around you. What works best for me is just making sure I have time each day to move my body in some way, whether that’s doing cardio, weight training, or even simply by taking a walk to get some fresh air. Doing what makes me feel good helps me move towards my goals.

Tell us about your daily diet.

HJ: Usually consists of waking up and hitting the gym on an empty stomach. I then usually have salmon on bagels with 4 eggs. Later in the day I then have pre-cooked meals with chicken and vegetables for lunch and probably the same for dinner. Super easy to make and high in protein that keeps me going. It’s okey for me. Keep things like turkey bites or bars handy for snacks. I’m not trying to impress anyone with anything gourmet, I’m just taking care of my health. If I go over my calorie intake, I increase my water intake to keep my stomach full and my mind happy.

What are the important traits you value in a partner?

HJ: To be honest, someone who is mentally stimulating. I like someone who has goals and dreams and is striving to be stronger than they were last year. I think when all is said and done, the most important thing is having someone you connect with on a deeper level rather than purely physical. Someone you connect with deep down and enjoy being with who inspires you to be the best version of yourself.

What’s next for you in 2022?

HJ: This year, my team and I are planning to make a movie or TV appearance every month. We are on the right track, if not a little better than we imagined. I love creating content on social media, but my passion is being in front of the camera.

Also super excited about my podcast this year. It’s been going really well and I’ve had some amazing guests already and more to come. More than anything, I’m thrilled to have everyone seeing me on screen again.
