It’s been a while since Lewis Capaldi released his debut studio album, “Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent”, which dropped in May 2019.

Since then, the Scottish singer has released singles here and there, but no more albums are in sight, which has left fans wondering why exactly.

In a podcast interview with Steven Bartlett for “Diary of A CEO,” Capaldi revealed that the main reason for the long wait after his debut album was that he “hates” recording albums.

The 25-year-old singer said he suffered from anxiety: “I had really bad anxiety that only hit a tipping point after I became famous.”

“I hate recording albums, I despise music videos,” he said. “I’m only doing all this because performing live is just an unprecedented fucking thing that you can compare to everything else, and it made me feel like shit. Like, f**k, I don’t know if I can’t do that anymore.”

As well as struggling with his mental health, he has been diagnosed with Tourette syndrome, he revealed earlier this month, causing his shoulder to twitch whenever he is stressed or happy, a- he shared.

The disorder manifests as “repetitive movements or unusual sounds” called tics, which cannot be easily controlled.

“Some days it’s more painful than others and some days it’s less painful. It feels a lot worse than it is. Sometimes it’s quite uncomfortable…but it’s okay and come,” he explained.

His successful struggles

When Capaldi released his debut single “Bruises” in 2017, he never expected to become the huge star he is now.

However, the fame he received came with its own setbacks. He shared that he started having panic attacks after becoming famous.

Due to his huge success, Capaldi shared that he always questioned himself: “I would start writing a song and I was like, ‘No, this is shit. […] Just f**king like, ‘this is shit, this is shit.’ “

‘[…] One of the songs went to number one in America. There’s no way I can do that again,” he said. “It just seems like such a climb and something I’m not capable of.”

He shared that he deals with this by going to therapy and being more open about his struggles with anxiety.

This may be one of the reasons his second album is taking so long, however, in a recent interview with Smallzy’s Surgery he joked that a funny encounter made him want to come back to music. .

“I’m walking around and someone walks up to me and says, ‘Excuse me, do you work here?’ And I’m like, ‘That’s not my job.’ It’s not great. So I texted my manager and said we have to release some music, it’s bad.

Asked about his musical hiatus, Capaldi joked: “People had seen me too much. And then there was this pandemic. And I was like look, the world has suffered enough. I have to give them a break here. So I ‘I slept.’

He then clarified that it wasn’t a “cleanup” as he was still lurking on Twitter and TikTok all the time.

His struggles with online dating

In his podcast interview, the multi-award-winning singer revealed that being famous and online dating isn’t such a good mix.

Apparently, he was kicked out of dating apps because he was mistaken for a poser. “I just got kicked off Tinder because I think people think I’m fake”

“So I got kicked out of Bumble, Tinder, Hinge… I love Tinder, Tinder is awesome but Hinge is what I really want to do because I feel like I’m in my twenties, it’s is what people do,” he said. .

Although he’s been kicked out of dating apps, he’s had success with it before, seeing that he complimented his ex-girlfriend, whom he met on Tinder, saying, “She’s awesome.”
